Active days between forests, lakes and the Baltic coast

Varied hiking every day

Our guided group hike follows selected sections of the Sörmlandsleden south of Stockholm. Narrow forest paths, open countryside, rocky ridges, quiet lakes and coastal scenery create constant variety, so every walking day has its own character.
You are active for several hours but carry only a daypack while your main luggage is transferred. This leaves more attention for the landscape, the group and the small discoveries along the trail.

A lunchtime swim

Many of our rest stops are beside the water. When the weather, route and personal preference allow, lunch can become a small Swedish summer experience: shoes off, a swim in the lake and then back onto the trail feeling refreshed. Swimming is always optional.

Kayaking and orienteering

Kayaking reveals the landscape from a different perspective: quiet, close to the water and facing forested shores. Orienteering brings terrain, map and compass together. You learn to notice clues in the landscape and find the right route as a group.
No previous experience is required. Curiosity, shared discovery and the pleasure of learning a new skill matter most.

Sauna in the evening

After an active day, the sauna is one of the most restorative parts of Swedish life. Warmth, quiet and relaxed company provide a welcome counterpoint to movement, wind and fresh air.

The companionship that grows along the way

A mixed group from different countries

This group holiday brings together people with different lives and perspectives. Conversations develop naturally while walking, resting beside a lake, sharing a meal or sitting together in the evening.
The group offers companionship without requiring every moment to be shared. There is space for conversation, quiet stretches and your own experience of nature.

Exploring Sörmland with a local guide

A local guide does more than lead the way. They know the landscape, add context to observations and explain how nature and everyday life in Sweden fit together. You begin to notice more: a track on the ground, a particular plant, an old settlement site or an unassuming place with a story.
The trip is a guided group hike with a multilanguage-speaking tour leader. You can ask questions, understand connections and get to know Sweden in a personal way.

People and place: understanding Sweden

Swedish food and everyday culture

Typical Swedish food, shared meals and the natural pause for coffee or fika are part of the experience. These are not staged traditions, but small and genuine insights into habits, flavours and everyday life.
You also learn a few Swedish words and expressions. A friendly “hej”, “tack” or “fika” can change your connection with a country and often stays in your memory long after the journey.

Flora, fauna and stories on the trail

Which plant grows here? Which bird is calling from the forest? What animal crossed this path during the night? Together, we look more closely and read tracks, shapes and movement in the landscape.
Not every observation can be identified immediately. Asking, comparing and discovering together is precisely what sharpens your awareness of Sweden’s flora and fauna.

Allemansrätten: freedom with responsibility

Sweden’s allemansrätten, the right of public access, gives everyone far-reaching access to nature. It always comes with a responsibility to respect wildlife, plants, landowners and other visitors.
On the trail, “do not disturb and do not destroy” becomes practical: Where may we walk and rest? When may a fire be lit? What must be considered during dry weather? How do we leave a place just as beautiful for the people who arrive next?

Practical outdoor knowledge

Making a fire safely

At a designated fireplace, you learn how to prepare, light, control and completely extinguish a fire. Whether a fire may be lit always depends on the weather, wildfire risk and local regulations.
The goal is not to make the largest fire possible, but to use little material with patience and responsibility – a small skill with a significant effect.

Using a map and compass

You learn the basics of navigation: orienting a map, finding the cardinal directions, recognising prominent features and judging your own position more confidently. The compass changes from an unfamiliar piece of equipment into an understandable tool.

What if you need the toilet in the wild?

That, too, is part of a long day outdoors. Your guide discreetly explains how to choose an appropriate place away from paths, rest areas and water, take care of hygiene and leave no visible trace. Toilet paper and hygiene products are packed out whenever no toilet is available.
What may initially feel unfamiliar becomes straightforward with a few clear rules and is part of behaving responsibly in nature.

The final quiz: what do you remember?

Remember, laugh and win together

At the end of the trip, a knowledge quiz revisits everything we encountered: Swedish words, animals and plants, navigation, allemansrätten, fire and the small details that make the country distinctive.
It is not an exam, but a playful review of the days we shared. There are prizes, of course – and probably a few answers that will still be discussed over the next meal.

What you take home

More than holiday memories

You return with tired legs, a clear head and many new impressions. Perhaps you will use a compass more confidently, look at animal tracks more closely, prepare a fire responsibly or speak a few words of Swedish.

Most importantly, you have experienced Sörmland actively: with other people, accompanied by a local guide and close to a landscape and culture that are not merely seen but genuinely encountered.
