About us – Claudia & Tomas of Sörmland Outdoor

Behind Sörmland Outdoor are Claudia and Tomas – a long-standing Swedish-German team. What connects us goes far beyond organising hiking trips: a love of movement, a close relationship with nature and the simple pleasure of spending genuinely good days outdoors with other people.

Two people, two countries – one strong team

We complement each other not only through language, but culturally as well. Tomas brings a Swedish and Scandinavian perspective, while Claudia brings a German and Central European one. This gives us an understanding of different habits, expectations and ways of communicating – and helps us bridge them. Our language skills complement each other too: Tomas speaks Swedish, English, Danish and Norwegian; Claudia speaks German, English and Italian. Together, we can communicate personally with guests from many parts of Europe while also giving them an authentic connection to the country, its people and culture.

Claudia – German perspective, organisation and international communication

Claudia brings the German perspective to Sörmland Outdoor and understands many of the questions and expectations German-speaking guests have. She speaks German, English and Italian and combines personal guest support with a strong focus on organisation and communication. For her, guests should know what to expect before a trip and feel well looked after along the way.

Tomas – local Swedish knowledge and a love of the outdoors

Tomas is the Swedish half of the team and is at home in Sörmland. He knows the landscape, nature and Swedish way of life from first-hand experience. As a hunter, he also has a particularly close connection to the forest, wildlife, the seasons and the relationships within nature. He enjoys sharing this knowledge naturally with guests along the trail. Speaking Swedish, English, Danish and Norwegian also makes him an important contact for Scandinavian and international guests.

What makes us a team

We are a small, close-knit team that has worked together for many years. We know each other’s strengths, rely on one another and complement each other naturally - linguistically, culturally and in the way we shape our trips. Often, few words are needed to know what needs to be done. Because there are just two of us, there are no long lines of communication and no constantly changing contacts. We make decisions together, respond flexibly and look after our guests personally. Travelling with us therefore means travelling not with an anonymous organisation, but with a team that works closely together, takes responsibility and makes the extra effort to turn a well-organised trip into a genuinely good time.

Trust is built through actions, not promises

For us, trust means describing requirements honestly, answering questions openly and being there when guests need us. A trip should not only look good on a website; it should feel good when you are actually there.

Connected by nature and movement

We both love being outdoors and being active. Forests, lakes, coastlines and mountains are not simply a backdrop to us. We enjoy the feeling of having spent a full day outside, shared an experience and returned pleasantly tired in the evening. That feeling is at the heart of Sörmland Outdoor.

We enjoy having guests

The personal side matters to us. We do not want to simply work through an itinerary; we want to share memorable days with our guests. We enjoy curious people, good conversations, laughter and the small moments along the way. And when something needs organising, explaining, adapting or solving, we are happy to make the extra effort.

Experience from many trails

Our hiking experience is not theoretical – we have spent many years walking in very different landscapes and on very different types of trail. Our experience includes Machu Picchu in Peru, the E5 Alpine crossing, Madeira, the Basque Country, Tyrol and the Dolomites. This ranges from Alpine terrain and multi-day routes to island and coastal landscapes. It helps us assess the demands of a trip realistically and understand what really matters on the trail: good preparation, fitness, suitable equipment, reliability, flexibility, a good atmosphere and respect for nature and people.

Personal rather than anonymous

We want Sörmland Outdoor to remain personal. When you travel with us or contact us before a trip, you should know who you are dealing with. Behind the name are Claudia and Tomas – two people who love hiking, enjoy being hosts and are happy to share that enthusiasm with others.

You'll never walk alone!
