Is the whole route on the Kungsleden?

The itinerary follows the northern Kungsleden as far as Singi. The route via Kebnekaise to Nikkaluokta lies outside the official main trail.

The Kungsleden and the Abisko Kebnekaise region

The Kungsleden links Abisko and Hemavan over more than 450 kilometres. This trip concentrates on its best-known northern section. The route begins in Abisko National Park, established in 1909, with mountain birch woodland, open heath, alpine meadows and the Abiskojåkka river. Beyond Alesjaure, broad fell landscapes and the Tjäktjavagge valley define the scenery. Between Singi and Nikkaluokta, the itinerary leaves the official Kungsleden and crosses the Kebnekaise area, home to Sweden’s highest mountain massif. The journey takes place in Sápmi, the traditional homeland of the Sámi, where reindeer husbandry and Sámi history form part of the cultural landscape.
