About the region and the E5

The European long-distance trail E5 is one of Europe’s major long-distance walking routes. The complete trail runs for around 3,200 kilometres from the Atlantic coast of Brittany in France, across the Alps and onwards to Verona in Italy.

Its best-known Alpine section leads from Oberstdorf in the Allgäu to Merano in South Tyrol. Along the way, mountain passes, valleys, Alpine landscapes and vegetation zones change within a remarkably short distance. This variety is what makes the E5 Alps crossing one of the most memorable walking experiences in the Alpine region.

On this comfortable version, you walk the central E5 stages with a guide and luggage transfer - ideal if you want to enjoy the Alpine crossing intensively but with strong organisation in the background.
